Who we are

Brieve (“we”, “us”, “our”) is a personalised morning briefing service operated by Ethan Rice, United Kingdom. Contact: hello@brieve.co.uk

What data we collect and why

Account data

When you sign up, we collect your name and email address via Google OAuth. This is used to identify your account and deliver your briefing. Google OAuth tokens are encrypted at rest using AES-256 encryption.

Google Calendar data

With your permission, we read your Google Calendar events to include your schedule in your daily briefing. Calendar data is processed in real time and never stored permanently.

Gmail data

With your permission, we read the metadata (sender, subject, snippet) of your recent unread emails to provide an inbox summary in your briefing. We never read, store, or process the full body of your emails.

Portfolio and watchlist data

Any stocks or investments you add manually are stored securely in your account.

Task data

Tasks you create in Brieve are stored in your account and used to generate your daily focus recommendation.

Briefing data

Generated briefings are stored and accessible in your briefing archive.

What we do NOT do

We never sell your data to third parties
We never store the full content of your emails
We never store your calendar data after your briefing is generated
We never share your Google data with any party other than those necessary to deliver the service
Our use of Google user data complies with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements

Third parties we use

We work with trusted service providers for hosting, database storage, email delivery, AI processing, and market and news data. These providers only receive data necessary to perform their function.

Specifically regarding Google data: data accessed via Google APIs is used solely to generate your briefing and is never shared with third parties except where necessary to deliver the service (e.g. AI processing via Anthropic/OpenAI).

Your rights (GDPR)

You have the right to:

Access all data we hold about you (Settings → Export my data)
Delete your account and all associated data (Settings → Delete account)
Withdraw Google permissions at any time via your Google Account settings

Data retention

Briefings are stored until you delete your account
Calendar and email data is never stored
On account deletion, all data is permanently removed within 24 hours
